Handball European Championship: France delivers heavy defeat to Portugal

After a disastrous first half where they were trailing by 13 goals at half-time, the Portuguese team managed to reduce the difference in the second half. This second consecutive defeat significantly complicates the passage to the semi-finals.

Portugal suffered, this Saturday, a heavy defeat by 46-38 against France, defending champion, in the second round of Group I of the Main Round of the European Handball Championship, which leaves the Portuguese a little further away from the semi-finals.

After having suffered the first defeat in the tournament in the previous round, Portugal entered this Saturday’s meeting unrecognizable, having reached half-time already 13 goals down (28-15)whilst managing to alleviate the defeat in the second stage, reducing the difference to eight goals.

With this defeat, The Portuguese team’s passage to the semi-finals becomes more complicated, with the ‘heroes of the sea’ needing to win the remaining two matches and also benefit from the combination of other results, with the next meeting scheduled for next Monday, against Norway, at 2:30 pm Portuguese time.
