The president (PT) stated this Friday (23) that he will face the candidate chosen by the “fascist convention” and that he is ready to compete with “whoever comes”.
“Get ready because we want to be four and we’re going to contest the elections. I don’t know with whom, there will be something like March or April, when the fascists will hold a convention, everyone will choose their candidate. What I can say is this: whoever comes,” said Lula, without naming competitors by name.
The speech took place during the 14th National Meeting of the (Landless Movement), in .
“We are going to show that lies will not prevail, and that anyone who uses their cell phone to tell lies, make fake news, can start putting their cell phone away.”
Lula decided to attend the MST event amidst a conflict in his current third term. Last July, the movement put pressure on the government by launching a campaign for and carrying out actions at Incra (National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform) headquarters.
The entity complained about what it saw as the slowness of the agrarian reform process and the freezing of resources to encourage family farming.
In his speech, Lula had mentioned the governments of former presidents Michel Temer (MDB) and (PL).
“We had eight years of Temer and Bolsonaro. You know what this country was like and you know the difference with just three years of our government.”
The main candidate to run in the presidential election is the senator (PL-RJ), who put himself forward as a candidate after the approval of his father, Jair Bolsonaro. The movement generated friction with the governor of , (Republicans), preferred by other wings of the right.
On an agenda this Friday, Tarcísio stated that “he will work hard in favor of Flávio Bolsonaro”.
After scheduling a visit to Bolsonaro at Papudinha and then canceling it, Tarcísio has been the target of Bolsonaro allies who question his lack of support for Flávio’s candidacy and accuse the governor of preparing his own candidacy for the Presidency, which he denies.
Tarcísio stated that the cancellation of his visit to Bolsonaro was a matter of agenda. Reports from allies cite his discomfort with Flávio’s pressure.
