This Saturday, 24th, Palácio do Planalto installed protective bars around the building to reinforce security. The measure was adopted in light of the demonstration led by federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG).

The walk organized by the parliamentarian will cover, in total, around 240 kilometers in protest against the convictions resulting from January 8, 2023.

“The GSI informs that, due to the possibility of demonstrations scheduled in locations close to the presidential installation, the bars are used as a reinforcement measure, in accordance with security protocols”, says a note released by the Institutional Security Office of the Presidency of the Republic.

Nikolas Ferreira’s group left Paracatu, in Minas Gerais, on Monday, the 19th, and should arrive in Brasília on Sunday, the 25th.

Understand the walk

Nikolas Ferreira started a walk on Monday, which left Minas Gerais and is headed to Brasília. Through social media, the deputy said that he decided to return to the federal capital on foot as a “symbolic” movement to “bring light” and “give hope to those who have already given up”. The arrival is scheduled for this sunday (25).

“My heart is restless in the face of the things that are happening, it is scandal after scandal, Brazilians have been in a position practically of psychological manipulation, where nothing can shake them anymore and this indignation that you feel, this impotence is not just yours, I, as a federal deputy, am a witness to how many [parlamentares] have the same feeling regarding the unjust arrests of the acts of January 8th and the same [detenção] of Bolsonaro”, declared Nikolas in a video posted at the beginning of the event.

The deputy also stated that he “understood the strategy” of the “enemy”. Without naming names, Nikolas said that the adversaries “want to kill them alive”, “silence them” and “throw them into invisibility”. “I’m going to do this walk and act as a symbolic act for people to remember and remember who we are and [por qual razão] we are here”, he declared.
