Sad news: A member of a famous group has died! He lost his battle with cancer

Former Scorpions bassist Francis Buchholz dies aged 71 writes The family of the deceased musician announced this news in an emotional post on the social network. They revealed that Buchholz died after a battle with an insidious cancer on Thursday, January 22.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you that our beloved Francis passed away yesterday after a private battle with cancer. He left this world peacefully, surrounded by love. Our hearts are broken,” wrote those close to the rocker. Buchholz’s family went on to thank the late bassist’s countless fans for their unwavering loyalty, love and faith in him. The touching statement was signed with love and gratitude by Buchholz’s wife Hella and their children Sebastian, Louisa and Marietta.

Buchholz was born in 1954 in Hannover, Germany, he discovered rock music at the age of 11 and later, as a 15-year-old high school student, he became a bassist in a band. Until however, in 1972 the musician joined the group Dawn Road with Uli Jon Roth, Jürgen Rosenthal and Achim Kirschning.

This four, together with new members Klaus Mein and Rudolf Schenker, became the band Scorpions a year later. Buchholz recorded 12 studio albums with the German hard rock band during his 18-year tenure with the group, including their 1974 debut album Fly to the Rainbow to 1990’s Crazy World.

However, Buchholz abruptly left the Scorpions in 1992 due to internal disagreements, legal conflicts and the desire to spend more time with his family. In the end we did after the breakup he reunited with Roth, and in 2005 and 2006 they toured Europe and the USA.

The famous bassist also joined former Scorpions lead guitarist Michael Schenker in the bands Michael Schenker Group and Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock. He played on Temple of Rock’s 2013 albums Bridge the Gap and 2015’s Spirit on a Mission.
