Barron Trump (19), the youngest son of US President Donald Trump, contacted British police after he allegedly saw his girlfriend being attacked in London during a video call. It emerged from the trial at the London Snaresbrook Crown Court, he writes.
According to the court, Trump said he asked friends in the US to call 999 to report the incident on his behalf. According to his testimony, the attack was supposed to take place in January 2025. The defendant in the case is Russian Matvej Rumyantsev (22), who is facing charges of assault, causing bodily harm and two counts of rape. as well as from intentionally stifling and influencing the investigation. The man denies all the accusations. The identity of the alleged victim cannot be released for legal reasons.
According to a transcript of the call released by British prosecutors, Trump told the operator: “I’m calling from the U.S. I just had a call with a girl who’s hitting. It happened about eight minutes ago. It’s a real emergency.” When the operator asked him about his relationship with the woman, he replied that he knew her from social networks and that, according to him, these details were not important.
Police later asked Trump to testify. In an email dated May 2, he stated that he only saw a short segment of the video call when “a shirtless man with dark hair” picked up the call. He claimed that he then saw the woman being hit while crying, and the whole incident lasted 5 to 7 seconds. He added that he had no direct evidence, but the victim had told him about problems with the defendant for a long time. According to the indictment, Rumyantsev was supposed to strangle the woman on the evening of January 17, 2025. The police arrested him the next morning.
However, the defendant claims that they both drank alcohol and had consensual sex, and that the argument arose later, with him only holding the woman in self-defense. He also said in court that during the incident her phone rang with a video call from Barron Trump and that he picked up the call in the hope that the woman would calm down in front of a third person. Rumyantsev went on to say that he learned about the woman’s friendship with Trump in October 2024 and that he was concerned when she was texting him. But he denied controlling her. The process is still ongoing.
