Trumpeter plays horn for protesters at Nikolas march: ‘Cattle on the track’

Trumpeter Fabiano Leitão, known on social media as “TromPetista”, a nickname that refers to his activism in the Workers’ Party (PT), provoked protesters who traveled along the BR-040 towards Brasília in protest against the arrest of former president Jair Bolsonaro.

In a video published this Friday, the 23rd, Fabiano appears playing a horn as the group passes along the highway. In the caption, he wrote: “Be careful! There are cattle loose on the track.”

Soon after, the musician started playing the children’s song “Marcha Soldado”. The lyrics make reference to the military universe and mention a soldier who, if he does not march correctly, is arrested in the barracks, in allusion to Bolsonaro, who is held in custody in the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, known as Papudinha. During the recording, Fabiano also makes the “L” symbol, in reference to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), and shouts the name of the Chief Executive.

It was not the first time that the trumpeter participated in episodes of political repercussion. In March last year, he gained notoriety for playing the Funeral March during a Bolsonaro press conference, on the day the former president became a defendant in the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for an attempted coup d’état.

Born in Brasília, Fabiano ran for the position of district deputy in 2022 and was a substitute, with just over four thousand votes. On X, he has more than 120 thousand followers.

At the inauguration of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in January 2023, the musician was invited by the president himself to play while he walked up the ramp at Palácio do Planalto. The song performed was “Olê, olê, olê, olá, Lula, Lula”.

In November last year, Fabiano returned to playing the Funeral March and the song “It’s time for Jair to go away” in front of the Federal Police superintendence in Brasília, where Bolsonaro was held before being transferred to the Papuda Complex.

Walk towards Brasília

The march led by federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), which is expected to arrive in Brasília on Sunday, the 25th, began with low attendance, but gained strength throughout the week and began to mobilize supporters on social media, days after Bolsonarism was accused of lack of engagement in defense of the former president.

This Friday, the 23rd, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) sent a letter to Nikolas’ office informing that it had started to adopt measures to preserve the safety of protesters and other highway users. According to the parliamentarian’s team, the contact did not bring formal determinations, having a preventive and collaborative nature.

Also this Friday, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, ordered the prohibition of protesters from accessing and remaining in the vicinity of the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, where Bolsonaro is being held. The magistrate cited the march scheduled to reach the capital on Sunday and the possibility of acts in the vicinity of the prison unit.

According to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), the objective of the mobilization is to promote overt demonstrations against STF decisions.
