Broncos x Patriots: how the teams arrive

The Denver Broncos reach the AFC Final after ending the regular season at the top of the conference, supported by a consistent defensive performance. The team finished as the NFL leader in sacks, with 68, and tied for the best against the ground game, giving up an average of 3.9 yards per attempt. Even without starting quarterback Bo Nix, the Broncos remained competitive in the playoffs and continue to rely on defensive solidity as their main asset.

In attack, Denver will be led by Jarrett Stidham, who takes on the role at a decisive moment. Under the command of coach Sean Payton, the trend is towards a game plan based on short passes and a greater volume of runs, with rookie RJ Harvey gaining prominence. Stidham also has options in the aerial game such as Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims and tight end Evan Engram. In the medical department, in addition to Nix, the team is monitoring the situations of Pat Bryant, Troy Franklin and Alex Forsyth, while JK Dobbins has been cleared to return and could be an option.

The New England Patriots arrive in second place in the AFC and backed by their performances in the playoffs. The team showed offensive and defensive balance in victories over the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans, limiting opponents to a total of 19 points. Defensively, the secondary formed by Christian Gonzalez, Marcus Jones and Carlton Davis played a decisive role, highlighted by the performance against Houston, which featured four interceptions, three sacks and a forced fumble.

In attack, the Patriots are counting on the good form of quarterback Drake Maye, who is in his second season in the NFL and has been one of the team’s main highlights. He has a diverse group of receivers, such as Stefon Diggs, Kayson Boutte and tight end Hunter Henry, in addition to the ground game support of Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. Regarding injuries, New England had no serious casualties in the divisional round, paying attention only to the condition of Carlton Davis, who left the last game after a blow to the head.
