Defense of MC Tuto regrets accident and says artist will collaborate

The defense of Emerson Teixeira Muniz, known as MC Tutopreso after running over a 20-year-old young man with a Porsche in Barueri (SP) — spoke after the custody hearing that maintained the singer’s arrest this Saturday (24).

In a statement, the defense regretted what happened and stated that MC Tuto is primary school, has a fixed residence, carries out legal and well-known professional activity, maintains stable relationships and has always made himself available to justice.

According to the defense, the artist has been fully collaborating with investigations related to the traffic incident that occurred on January 24, 2026, in Barueri (SP).

“The legal advice of artist MC Tuto, represented by lawyer José Estevam Macedo Lima, informs that the artist attended the custody hearing, an opportunity in which the defense presented its clarifications to the court.

On the occasion, elements were exposed that demonstrate the artist’s personal and professional history. Even so, the judicial authority opted, at this time, to maintain custody, a decision that will be duly analyzed and reevaluated through the appropriate procedural measures.

The defense highlights that MC Tuto is primary school, has a fixed residence, carries out legal and well-known professional activity, maintains stable relationships and has always made himself available to Justice, with, so far, no concrete indication of risk to the regular progress of the process.

The artist has been fully collaborating with investigations related to the traffic incident that occurred on January 24, 2026, in Barueri (SP). It should be noted that the case is in the investigation phase, and there is no conviction, and the constitutional principle of the presumption of innocence must be observed.

MC Tuto and his defense team deeply regret what happened, express solidarity with the victim and his family and wish him a speedy and full recovery. They also reaffirm their commitment to the responsible investigation of the facts and inform that the appropriate legal measures continue to be adopted.”

Funk player Emerson Teixeira Muniz, known as MC Tuto, was arrested after running over a 20-year-old man with a Porschein the early hours of this Saturday (24), in Barueri, Greater São Paulo.

The accident happened near Feirinha de Barueri, where the singer was recording a music video. At the end of filming, MC Tuto was driving a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, accompanied by a model, when he hit the victim. The vehicle was equipped with a camera attached to the hood of the luxury car, which recorded the movement at the time of the accident.

The incident this morning was attended to by a team from the GCM (Municipal Civil Guard) who reported that, when they arrived at the scene, the victim was already being helped in serious condition, with fractures in both legs, ribs and cracks in the skull. The boy was taken to Francisco Moran Municipal Hospital.

In a statement to the guards, MC Tuto said he was recording a video when he felt an impact and saw that he had run over the young man. He told the police that he was not speeding: “he was approximately 30 km/h”, as recorded in the police report.

According to two witnesses interviewed by the police, after the accident, MC Tuto provided support and remained at the scene until a police vehicle arrived.

At the end of the incident, the funk singer was arrested in the act, without bail, and charged with attempted murder. In the indictment, the police mention that the perpetrator took the risk of killing the pedestrian and that he could hit anyone on the street, representing the qualification of common danger and also making it difficult for the victim to defend himself. According to the police, the collision occurred unexpectedly, not allowing any reaction or defense on the young man’s part.

The SSP (Public Security Secretariat) reported that fpray requested expert examinations at the Criminalistics Institute and the IML (Medical-Legal Institute) and the case was registered as vehicle location/seizure at the Barueri Headquarters Police Station.
