Ginásios, PT: what happened in the first days of this year?

And it seems that there is much more demand than supply, because 70% of requests go unanswered in the first week of January.

The most likely explanation is the famous routine of establishing New Year’s resolutions: many Portuguese decided that 2026 was the year to go to the gym. Either to debut, or to recover that routine.

You never know if this desire lasts for a long time. But, at least in the first days of the year, the demand for personal trainers (PTs) increased. Even a lot.

Data from the Fixando platform, for online contracting of services in Portugal, only in the first week of January demand for PTs increased by 83% compared to December 2025. In other words, it almost doubled compared to the previous month.

And, in a statement sent to ZAP. Fixando advises that, until the end of Januarygrowth could more than double, reaching 127% compared to December.

For now, the capital stands out: Lisboa concentrates 45% of requests, followed by Porto (14%), Setúbal e Faro (both 9%), Braga (7%) e Aveiro (7%).

But there is a problem: demand is much greater than supply: 70% of orders of personal training stay no response. There is a lack of available professionals.

The average value of a session personal training is located in 30 euros – reaching up to 80 euros. Here too there was an increase: last year, the average value was 25 euros. It should be noted that there are several factors that influence these values: the location of the session (gym to be defined or the PT working independently), experience, type of support, whether the support is in person or online, among others.
