Outraged, Niu exposed the case on the social network Douyinin a post in which he details Gao and Han’s workplaces, using harsh language to describe it. He also published a sarcastic tale about infidelity of the companion.

Shortly afterwards, Gao sued Niu for defamation, and won the casesays . The court considered that personal moral failures could not justify the violation of privacy rights from someone else.

Niu Na was now ordered to publicly apologize to her husband, during 15 consecutive dayswith the content of his apology videos subject to court approval. In China, defamation carries civil liability, which includes an apology, cessation of harmful actions and compensation.

The young Chinese woman is effectively serving her sentence. But your videos are, let’s say… “slightly” sarcastic.

You and your lover are clearly in love. Even with your serious moral failings, your personal rights and reputation deserve respect“, says Niu in one of the videos.

In her initial post, Niu shared details of her husband’s case, including records of conversations and money transfersas well as photographs of a wound on Gao’s head, which was attacked by lover’s husband.

“I shouldn’t have made fun of you or called you ‘pig’. You were attacked to protect her. You are a good leader and lover“, says Niu in another of the daily apology videos.

In the fourth video, Niu shows his own injuriesresulting from domestic violence, and states: “Your affair and your violence hurt me deeply, but that Doesn’t justify my wrong actions. Emotional issues must be dealt with legally.”

Niu’s tongue-in-cheek apology videos quickly gained millions of likes on social media. In just a few days, he raised more than 350,000 followersand the comments section was flooded with demonstrations of support.

“You are a wise and courageous womanyou turned an apology into a public reckoning with unfaithful partner,” one user wrote. The court reviewed and approved your videos. I think that means you are legally at fault, but you gain morally“, commented another.

Some even suggested that Niu should show his videos on giant screens in local shopping centers for everyone to see.
