If you want coffee to have not only a stimulating effect, but also health benefits, add collagen to it. Although it may seem strange, this ingredient will provide many health benefits. This little thing can improve your fitness if you use it correctly.

Adding collagen to your morning coffee is a relatively new and smart trend. Coffee is a drink we drink every day, and adding a nutritional powder to it does not require any additional sacrifices. Moreover, the taste of the coffee does not change significantly and the collagen dissolves almost completely. Thanks to this, the morning cup of caffeine gains an additional function: it not only stimulates, but also supports beauty. How does it work? Collagen occurs naturally in the human body and is responsible for, among others: for skin firmness, hair elasticity and proper functioning of joints. Unfortunately, its production begins to decline after the age of 25. The result is wrinkles, weakened hair and a feeling of fatigue in the body. It’s no wonder collagen supplementation has become so popular.

Drinking coffee with collagen makes sense if the body is well hydrated. Caffeine has a diuretic effect, and collagen works best when the body is well hydrated. Therefore, it is worth hydrating your body if this fashionable drink is to bring tangible results. Therefore, drinking coffee with collagen does not eliminate the need to drink water or other fluids during the day. You should also remember not to add collagen to very hot coffee. When pouring boiling water over the preparation, its structure may be degraded. Not only does this reduce the health benefits, but it also makes the coffee taste a bit fishy.

There are many forms of collagen available on the market: powder, capsules and ready-made shots. Collagen powder is best for coffee because it dissolves quickly and does not change the consistency of the drink. Hydrolyzed collagen, i.e. collagen that has been broken down into smaller particles, is particularly popular. Thanks to this, the body absorbs it more easily and uses it faster in the processes of rebuilding the skin, hair and connective tissue.

It is worth paying attention to the source of collagen. The most common is fish collagen, which is considered the most absorbable. An alternative is bovine collagen, eagerly chosen by physically active people, which additionally supports joints and muscles. Mixtures enriched with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid or zinc are also becoming more and more popular, because these ingredients strengthen the action of collagen and support regenerative processes in the body.

Collagen producers offer various types of collagen intended for coffee. It is worth choosing those that have pure ingredients, without any flavor additives. Product prices in online stores range from PLN 30-70.

Preparing coffee with collagen is extremely simple and it won’t disturb your morning rituals. The most important thing is to make sure that the drink is not boiling water:

  • brew the coffee in your favorite way, but do not allow the drink to become boiling water (e.g. temperature below 95 °C). If this happens, wait until the coffee cools down;
  • add 1-2 teaspoons of hydrolyzed collagen (or the amount suggested by the manufacturer);
  • mix vigorously for approx. 30-60 seconds until the powder dissolves completely and leaves no lumps;
  • drink a still warm drink.

During the day, try to drink additional water (daily fluid requirement) to counteract possible dehydration caused by caffeine. A fine addition of honey, vanilla extract or cinnamon (if they do not interfere with the purpose) for flavor.
