The federal deputy (Solidariedade-SP) launched his pre-candidacy for the Senate this Saturday (24) and received the support of several political leaders, including the president of the Chamber, (-PB).
Paulinho promoted a political event in a nightclub in the west of São Paulo, under the pretext of celebrating his 70th birthday.
The main theme was the announcement that he will try to exchange the Chamber for the Senate in the October election. “I have been very sought after and provoked to take a new step. I do not run away from responsibility,” he said, to the audience present. In his speech, he said that it is necessary to break political polarization and seek harmony.
The party was attended, in addition to Motta, by the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), the president of the Legislative Assembly, André do Prado (PL), the national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, and federal deputy Elmar Nascimento (União-BA).
In his speech, Motta said that Paulinho is unanimous in the Chamber and will be greatly missed in the House. “But we will be neighbors working together, because God willing, you will have the opportunity to reach the Federal Senate to represent the people of São Paulo”, said the president of the Chamber.
Paulinho, in return, said that Motta, who became head of the Chamber at the age of 35, will be president of the Republic “in a short time”. The deputy just laughed.
He did not make it clear who his ticket will be in the Senate race. An alliance with the left is ruled out, since he has been a critic of the Lula government. The tendency is for him to try to position himself as a third way, as he is also not aligned with Bolsonarism.
