Seguro appeals to vote alongside Pedro Duarte because "polls don't elect presidents"

António José Seguro warns that being ahead in the polls does not mean that the second round is won. The candidate is happy with the emergence of new support from the non-socialist space, but guarantees that he will not give up his convictions to win voters further to the right.

António José Seguro went this Saturday with Pedro Duarte, mayor of Porto who supported Marques Mendes, to visit Sapadores do Porto Fire Regiment and took the opportunity to “express solidarity and also regret the incidents that occurred in certain areas of the country” regarding the “Ingrid” depression.

“I know that there are human victims, not in the sense of dead, fortunately, but displaced people and that there were also consequences in terms of property. I hope that the situation is now milder, but it is a concern that I have and that I will keep monitoring throughout the day”, he said.

After visiting the Regimental museum, as well as the room dedicated to the Integrated Management Center and greeting all the firefighters present, commented that the corporation will be 300 years old in two years, at which point he hopes to be able to visit it again in other capacities now.

“I would be very pleased if I were invited”, he said.

Asked about the support he has received from various political circles, the candidate seemed happy, but reinforced that on election day it is necessary to go and vote.

“I feel like this candidacy is no longer just my candidacy, it’s a candidacy from Portugal, it’s a candidacy from the Portuguese, it’s a candidacy from all the democrats, the progressives, the humanists”, he said.

The candidate supported by the PS and, now, also by Livre, PCP and BE, won 31% of the votes, while leader of Chega, obtained 23%.
