Corinthians and São Paulo face an impasse over Alisson’s transfer

Corinthians and São Paulo are at an impasse over the loan transfer of midfielder Alisson. After a principle of agreement, the established templates once again generated questions from Timão.

Initially, it was agreed that he would go to Tricolor for a season’s loan. Then, until October, the Parque São Jorge club would pay another R$500,000, totaling R$1.5 million for the transfer. The purchase option is set at 2.5 million euros (around R$15.5 million).

Itatiaia found that the board of directors does not currently have the amount requested by São Paulo to make the payment in cash. A source linked to the club revealed that there is not even a forecast for the deposit to be made, taking into account the resources that will still enter the coffers and the financial issues that the association needs to honor.

On the tricolor side, the business continues to be treated as ongoing, and there is optimism for a positive outcome for all parties. President Harry Massis, last Sunday (25), even stated that he expected Corinthians’ payment to be made this Monday (26).

So far, São Paulo is not working on the hypothesis of the business “melting”.

Alisson was a request from coach Dorival Júnior, who worked with the midfielder during his time in São Paulo. Together, they won the 2023 Copa do Brasil.

In addition to the amounts mentioned, the contract provides for a fine if Alisson plays for Corinthians against São Paulo. The clause establishes the payment of R$2 million to release the midfielder to take the field in the classic.

Furthermore, if the midfielder completes 25 games with at least 45 minutes on the field, Timão would still have to pay another 250,000 euros (around R$1.5 million).
