Eight remain hospitalized after lightning in Nikolas’ act – 01/26/2026 – Politics

At least eight people remain hospitalized in two hospitals after being struck by lightning during the event that marked the end of the walk promoted by the deputy (PL-MG), this Sunday (26).

According to the Federal District Fire Department, the episode left 89 victims, of which 47 were taken to emergency care units. The injured suffered burns, tachycardia, torsion and hypothermia.

In a note, the DF Health Department reported that, at the Asa Norte Regional Hospital, three patients remain hospitalized and one patient was transferred to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of Santa Marta Hospital.

The Institute for Strategic Health Management of the Federal District, which manages the Base Hospital, reported that four patients were under observation, with the possibility of being discharged at any time.

Upon leaving hospitals, discharged patients still reported chills even after treatment.

Maintenance assistant Cleodemiro Toletino Porto, 45, said that, around 12pm, he felt an electric shock when lightning hit the area. According to him, shortly after the impact, several people began to fall to the ground.

“I felt the shock, but I didn’t need to be hospitalized. People were being helped by others, some being supported by the arm,” he said.

Sabrina Gadea and her husband, Renato Gadea, were holding a tarp with friends to protect themselves from the rain when they heard a bang. The couple had come from Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo, to follow the walk and were already in Cruzeiro square waiting for the deputy when lightning struck the area.

Renato stated that he tried to calm people down after the incident and reported that the firefighters took a while to understand the seriousness of the situation, as they were positioned far from the point where the lightning strike occurred.

“There were people who passed out and came back, which was our case. I woke up sitting on the floor. It was very strong. It was like breaking my leg, you know?”, says Renato, who left the Base Hospital on Sunday (25).

The federal deputy concluded on Sunday (25) the walk that began last Monday (19) in a protest for the amnesty of (PL).

Supporters to pressure the (Supreme Federal Court) for the release of the former president, arrested after being sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison for the attempted coup d’état.

Only Nikolas spoke. Pastor Silas Malafaia, who was expected, did not attend. In his speech, the parliamentarian sent messages to the STF and the Congress leadership, and ignored the victims of the lightning strike at the location.

Later, the parliamentarian went to the Hospital de Base do , a health unit that received 27 of those injured in the incident. He visited patients and posed for photos, images of which were shared on his social networks.
