At least 15 people died and 316 were rescued after a ferry sank in the south of the Philippines, during the early hours of this Monday (26). The vessel carried 332 passengers and 27 crew.
The rescued people received medical attention upon arriving at a port in the south of the country.
A video released by the municipal government of Basilan province showed survivors crowded together and wrapped in thermal blankets.
Dozens of people die every year in ferry accidents in the Philippines, an archipelago with more than 7,000 islands and a spotty record on maritime safety.
