Information circulated on social media this Sunday (25/01) that Real Madrid had activated a supposed buy-back clause to bring Endrick back after his departure to Lyon. The rumor spread on the internet states that the striker would leave the French club in the next few days – which it’s not true.
Endrick’s loan contract at Lyon, which runs until June, does not provide for an immediate exit. There was, in fact, a clause that would allow Real Madrid to request the player’s return, but it was only valid until January 20th. This deadline has already expired, which makes any early return unfeasible at this time.
There is no move by Real Madrid to interrupt the loan, not even after Xabi Alonso’s departure from coaching. The coach was identified as one of the factors for Endrick’s poor performance in Spain, in addition to the muscle injury suffered by the Brazilian in 2025, but this did not change the Merengue club’s current planning.
The agreement between Real Madrid and Lyon is clear: Endrick was loaned for six months, with no option to purchase, with his return expected at the end of the European season. The Spaniards’ idea is for the 19-year-old striker to gain rhythm, sequence and confidence in European football before returning more mature to the Santiago Bernabéu.

This Sunday, Endrick gave further proof that the loan is having an effect. The Brazilian striker scored three goals in Lyon’s 5-2 defeat of Metz, his first hat-trick with the French club’s shirt. With that, he has four goals and one assist in just three games, numbers that caught the attention of the Spanish press.
Newspapers such as Marca, AS and Mundo Deportivo highlighted the young man’s moment and coined the term “Endrickmania”, highlighting that Real Madrid “rubs its hands” with the player’s evolution and is waiting for the end of his loan to reintegrate him into the squad.
