Portuguese-Venezuelan Carla da Silva released after conviction for conspiracy against Maduro.

Carla da Silva, Portuguese-Venezuelan woman sentenced to 21 years in prison for conspiring to overthrow Maduro’s government, was released this Sunday, confirmed the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Portuguese descendant was accused of the crimes of treason, conspiracy, rebellion, trafficking in weapons of war, association to commit crimes and financing of terrorism. One Caracas court sentenced her, in May 2024, to 21 years in prison, together with 28 other people, military and civilian, for conspire to overthrow Maduro’s government.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reveals that it is monitoring the case and is in contact with Carla’s family.
