Man dies swept away by current after heavy rain in São Paulo

The heavy rains that hit the capital of São Paulo on Sunday afternoon (25) caused the death of a man in the north of São Paulo. According to information from the Civil Defense, he was swept away by the waters during a flood in the Vila Guilherme neighborhood.

The rains were accompanied by strong gusts of wind, which reached 63.2 km/h at Guarulhos Airport, at 3:44 pm, and exceeded 50 km/h in regions such as Santana-Carandiru and M’Boi Mirim.

According to the CGE, the areas of instability that moved from the Campinas region lost strength throughout the afternoon and began to move away towards the ABC of São Paulo, with a tendency to dissipate in the following hours. For the remainder of Sunday, just variation of clouds in the capital.

Civil Defense reinforced guidelines for the population during rainy episodes, such as avoiding walking through flooded streets, not facing currents, staying away from the power grid and not taking shelter under trees. In case of blocked roads, the recommendation is to consult the Traffic Engineering Company (CET) by calling 156 or through official channels.
