Municipal council election in St. Pölten: SPÖ loses Absolute, FPÖ gains


After 61 years, an era is coming to an end in St. Pölten: for the first time since 1965, the SPÖ has lost its absolute majority in the Lower Austrian capital. According to the preliminary final result, the Reds received 42.53 percent of the votes and will hold 19 of a total of 42 mandates in the future. In 2021, the SPÖ had 56 percent – which means a minus of 14 percentage points.
