Trump: He wants a ballroom in the White House at all costs – Attack on the National Trust

Τραμπ: Θέλει αίθουσα χορού στον Λευκό Οίκο πάση θυσία – Επίθεση στο National Trust

After razing its East Wing, he says it is now “too late” to stop construction of the huge ballroom he dreams of building there, following a filing by the National Trust, the organization for the defense of national heritage.

“I am building, in addition to everything else I am doing, one of the largest and most beautiful ballrooms in the world,” Trump wrote on Truth Social today. “IT IS TOO LATE” to stop the work of this “GIFT to the United States”.

On Friday, Justice Department officials told the court hearing the National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) lawsuit that plans for the hall could still be changed.

“Stopping work at this advanced stage, when so much has already been ordered and carried out, would be disastrous for the White House, our country and all concerned,” Trump wrote.

Trump wants no scrutiny of his “gift” to the US

In October, Trump had the East Wing razed to build a 1,000-seat ballroom for receptions and formal dinners.

The National Trust sued in December, alleging that the US government failed to comply with statutory assessment requirements and did not obtain congressional authorization for the project.

“A gift of this magnitude in the United States is almost universally regarded as a WONDERFUL THING FOR ANYONE TO DO. But no, as usual, I’m being prosecuted, this time by the far-left National (no!) Trust for Historic Preservation, an organization that regularly mocks our country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation is the nonprofit organization charged by Congress to protect historic buildings.

“So-called ‘conservationists’ must not be allowed to block this desperately needed expansion of our BIG White House, a place that a President has never needed permission to alter or improve,” Trump wrote.
