Turkish pizza is heaven in your mouth. It tastes best with meat stuffing

Pide is a traditional Turkish dish prepared on flat doughwhich looks a bit like pizza. The soft and thin cake can be served with a variety of toppings, including this recipe with meat and vegetable stuffing. The secret to the perfect filling is lean beef, as well as onion, peppers, tomatoes, and parsley, which gives a fresh flavor. This dish is perfect for dinner, you can also take it for a second breakfast at work, or serve it to guests during a party.

To prepare the dough, you will need:

  • 400 g of all-purpose flour,
  • 1 tablespoon of dry instant yeast,
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar,
  • 2 teaspoons of salt,
  • 200 ml of lukewarm water,
  • 50 ml olive oil.

Ingredients for the stuffing:

  • 400 g of ground lean beef,
  • 1 large onion,
  • 2 medium tomatoes,
  • ½ green pepper,
  • 1 handful of parsley,
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil,
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice,
  • 1 teaspoon of salt,
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper.

Additionally:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing.

Prepare the dough.

In a large bowl, mix flour, instant yeast, salt and sugar.

Add olive oil and warm water. Mix everything well with a whisk, fork or spatula and then with your hands until you obtain a smooth and elastic dough. This will take approximately 6-7 minutes. Alternatively, you can use a mixer or food processor.

Form a ball and place it in a well-greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a cloth and set it aside in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until it doubles in volume.

Then transfer the dough back to the counter and knead for a few minutes. Divide them into 5 pieces, form each into a ball and cover them with a kitchen cloth for 15 minutes.

Prepare the stuffing.

Chop the onion, tomatoes and green pepper very finely. Chop the parsley.

Transfer all ingredients to a bowl and mix well until a uniform paste is obtained.

Assemble the pide.

Roll out the dough balls thinly on the countertop into fairly oblong pancakes.

Spread the filling on each pancake, gently pressing it to the dough and leaving 2 cm of free space around it. Fold the sides inwards and pinch the ends together to seal the cake.

Brush the edges of the bread with oil and put it in an oven preheated to 240 degrees Celsius and bake for 10-12 minutes.

Serve pide warm, immediately after preparation.
