Search for lost children in Maranhão

The governor of Maranhão, Carlos Brandão, announced via Instagram this Sunday (25) that the boy Kauã, aged 8, was discharged from hospital and is now home with his family. He is the cousin of brothers Ágatha Isabelly, aged 6, and Allan Michael, aged 4. The three disappeared on January 4th in Babacal, Maranhão, but only Kauã has been found.

According to information shared by Brandão, the boy is receiving all support needed for recovery. “Kauã was medically discharged, returned home and continues to recover, with all the necessary assistance after everything he faced,” he wrote.

The governor also pointed out that Kauã has been helping the Civil Police in investigations. “The information he has passed on is helping to guide the work of the teams, who are acting in an increasingly strategic manner, especially in the investigations carried out by the Civil Police in the search for Ágatha and Michael”, he concluded.

On the same day, the Secretary of Public Security of Maranhão, Maurício Martins, informed the last place where the children would be together. Known as “Casa Caída”, which is located on the banks of the Merim river and about 3.5 km from the quilombola community, the children would have spent at least one night there, according to Kauã.

“What we want to guarantee is that these searches will continue. The entire structure set up will be maintained and, if necessary, expanded to achieve the main objective, which is to find Isabelly and Michael”, said Martins at a press conference.
