Court authorizes transfer of Sérgio Nahas to SP

The São Paulo Court authorized the transfer of São Paulo businessman Sérgio Nahas from the prison system from Bahia to São Paulo. The man must serve eight years and two months in prison for the crime of qualified homicide after shooting Fernanda Orfali, his then wife, in Higienópolis, in the west zone of the capital, 24 years ago.

The businessman was arrested on the 17th after being identified by facial recognition cameras from Polinter (Bahia Interstate Police Coordination) in Praia do Forte, on the North Coast of Bahia, the same place where he spent his honeymoon with Orfali before killing her.

At the time, 13 pins containing a substance that appeared to be cocaine, three cell phones and a vehicle were seized from him.

and had his name included on the Interpol Red Diffusion list.

According to police investigations, Orfali had called for an end to the marriage and confronted her ex-husband about his drug abuse and having an extramarital relationship before she was killed in 2002.

Nahas’s conviction came only 16 years after the crime.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office defended the thesis that Nahas should be convicted of qualified homicide. On the other hand, the man’s defense claimed that Fernanda had committed suicide.

The SSP-SP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat) reported that the DHPP (Department of Homicide and Personal Protection), will pick up Nahas in the next few days.
