Robert Moreno left Sochi in August and is now said to have been fired due to his excessive reliance on ChatGPT to make decisions. Coach denies it.
Spain coach in 2019, when he temporarily replaced Luis Enrique, for whom he was assistant for more than ten years, Robert Moreno is being accused of making decisions for ChatGPT.
It was this dependence on Artificial Intelligence (AI) that, in August, led to its Sochi dismissal from Russia.
The revelation was made this week by the club’s former general director, who accuses him of using ChatGPT to make crucial decisions, from planning training to hiring players.
“We were looking for a striker and among the options were Vladimir Pisarsky, Pavel Meleshin and Artur Shushenachev. Moreno entered the data of the three players in ChatGPT and Shushenachev was suggested as the best”, he exemplified Andrei Orlovto Sports Russia.
The signing of Shushenachev ended up failing, with the striker scoring just one goal in 11 games and, in the meantime, he has already left the club.

In a response to the former Sochi director – who, at the command of the Spaniard, ended up go down division -, Moreno stated that he refused to enter into controversies with “people from the past”, denying the accusations.
“I have never used ChatGPT to prepare games, choose lineups or hire players. Like any professional technical team, we use analytical tools to organize information, but sporting and human decisions always depend on the coach and his team”, he guaranteed.
The 48-year-old coach also justified Shushenachev’s strange signing: “It was a club process, led by the sporting director and approved by me. Furthermore, scored a goal in the Cup and suffered an injury that affected his performanceas happens in any team.”
