ICE: deposed commander; USA deploys agents for Winter Olympics… in Italy

Agents from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will be sent to Italy for the Winter Olympics, an agency spokesperson confirmed this Wednesday. Gregory Bovino was removed from office and Trump will be reconsidering his more aggressive ‘tactics’.

The Winter Olympic Games will take place in northern Italy between the 6th and 22nd of February.

According to Agence France Presse (AFP), the Internal Security Service (HSI) of the ICE will supportat the event, the US State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service, “as well as the host country“.

According to the same source, the North American agents will have the mission to assessment and mitigation of risks related to transnational criminal organizations.

Still, according to the Italian news agency ANSA, ICE agents will have a “very limited” role in security of elements of the US Government at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.

Scandals with ICE and deposed Greg Bovino

ICE agents involved in controversial operations in the USA are being heavily challenged after , a 37-year-old American nurse, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
