The meeting took place at Planalto and was attended by coach Carlo Ancelloti and the president of the CBF, Samir Xaud
President Lula participated this Monday (26), at the Palácio do Planalto, in a meeting with the president of Fifa Gianni Infantino. The minister of sport André Fufuca, the coach of the Brazilian Football Team, Carlo Ancelotti and the president of the CBF, Samir Xaud, were also present.
Infantino has been in Brazil for a few days for the 2027 Women’s World Cup branding event, which will take place in Brazil. According to the FIFA president, the meeting discussed mainly the World Cup.
“We talk about the Women’s World Cupfrom Brazil 2027, which will be the best. And we agree: the best World Cup in the history of football. We will have between three and four million fans from all over the world who will fill the eight wonderful stadiums in the eight host cities. We will have three billion people, at least, who will watch this women’s World Cup (on TV), which will be a total success”, he commented.
Having Brazil as the host country of the 2029 Club World Cup was also one of the topics discussed. The proposal had already been raised by the CBF and has now gained Lula’s support.
Infantino did not address the possibility, but praised the country’s structure to host major FIFA events, again mentioning the Women’s Cup. “Everything is ready in Brazil. There are stadiums, there are hotels, there are airports. We don’t need anything, just people’s joy. May everyone be with FIFA, the CBF and the government to support women and women’s football and all women’s causes”, he said.
The president of the CBF, Samir Xaud, also commented on the Club World Cup. “This is a subject that we have already launched. The campaign itself has not yet been launched, but we are already talking behind the scenes, we will work on this. We believe that Brazil is ready to host this grand event, but this requires many conversations, many adjustments, but Brazil will, yes, put forward its candidacy for 2029”, he confirmed.
