In Israel, Flávio says that Lula is anti-Semitic – 01/27/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The presidential candidate stated that the president was anti-Semitic when he compared the Israeli offensive in Palestine to the Holocaust. The senator spoke this Tuesday (27) at the International Conference to Combat Anti-Semitism, an event that brings together right-wing personalities in Israel.

“In February 2024, Lula crossed a moral line by comparing Israel’s actions to the Holocaust, an anti-Semitic statement that insulted the Jewish people and minimized the worst crime in history,” said Flávio Bolsonaro at the conference. He referred to the one in October 2023, which led to the deaths of 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 250.

Israel’s response is the target of criticism from the international community. The siege on the Gaza Strip, with bombings, ground attacks and long blockades of supplies, has left a deficit since October, according to the Palestinian authority. The reaction was condemned by Lula on several occasions.

“You know, what is happening in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian people does not exist at any other historical moment. In fact, it existed when Hitler decided to kill the Jews”, during a visit to Ethiopia, in February 2024.

For Flávio, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) “left no doubts” and defended Israel in international forums. “He stood by Israel’s side in international forums. He strengthened cooperation between our countries. And he made something very clear: Brazil stood with Israel against terrorism, without excuses and without double standards”, said the senator.

“Let me be very clear: Lula is anti-Semitic. This is not a slogan. This is not an exaggeration. This is based on his ideas, his advisors, his words and his actions. (…) Hamas is not a resistance group. Hamas is a terrorist organization. The same group that murdered innocent Israeli families on October 7th”, added Flávio.

The senator also stated that the PT member has an “ideology that is not just on paper” and becomes “a governmental action”. In this sense, he criticized the entry of Iranian warships into Rio de Janeiro, in 2023, complaining that the Persian country’s regime “openly calls for the destruction of Israel”.

Flávio also promised that, if elected president, he will sign Brazil’s entry into the Isaac Accords, which aim to strengthen diplomatic relations between Israel and Latin America. “I am a candidate for President because Brazil needs a moral and strategic reset. In this new moment in Latin America, the United States, together with responsible democracies, helped to build a new model of international cooperation,” he said.

Flávio has been traveling to Israel since last week. He follows a similar route to that done during his father’s pre-campaign for the Presidency of the Republic. The former president’s firstborn was baptized in the Jordan River and prayed at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

In recent days, Flávio has made a series of publications on social media about his family’s trip to the location, reinforcing religious messages.

In his speech, Flávio also spoke about the situation of his father, who is serving a sentence for an attempted coup d’état. “Jair Bolsonaro is in prison today for political persecution, not for justice. But ideas cannot be imprisoned. And the truth cannot be silenced.”
