Montero will represent the Government at the funeral for the victims of Adamuz in Huelva

The Government will be represented “at the highest level” by the first vice president of the Government, María Jesús Montero, at the funeral that the kings will preside over for the victims of the Adamuz (Córdoba) train accident next Thursday, January 29 in Huelva, according to the minister spokesperson, Elma Saiz.

In the press conference after the Council of Ministers, the Government spokesperson indicated that, in addition to the vice president, other members of the Government, which has not been specified, will attend this funeral organized by the Bishopric of Huelva, with the collaboration of the City Council and the Provincial Council of Huelva.

The funeral will be presided over by the kings next Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace in Huelva after the Government and the Junta of Andalusia agreed to postpone the State tribute that was going to be held on January 31 after speaking with a large majority of families who said it would be impossible for them to attend that day.

The minister spokesperson has expressed the Government’s deep respect for the will of the families of the victims to postpone the date of the State tribute because the Executive, she said, will always be at their side.

“The Government, of course, will be represented at the highest level of the Huelva funeral” and it will be the first vice president of the Government who will accompany the kings, in addition to other members of the Executive, Saiz indicated. The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will also attend the event.

The Bishop of Huelva, Santiago Gómez Sierra, has conveyed to the Royal House his gratitude for accepting the invitation and has valued “the closeness and sensitivity” shown by the kings “at a time of deep mourning for the Huelva community”, where many of the 45 fatal victims of the incident were from.
