The minister, of the (Supreme Federal Court), decided this Monday (26) to maintain the preventive detention of, former advisor on international affairs of (PL).
According to the judge, Martins’ defense did not present any new fact “that could rule out the need to maintain precautionary custody.”
Before deciding on the case, Moraes consulted the (Attorney General’s Office), which spoke out against the former advisor’s request to revoke the measure.
“In the present case, the defendant’s stance [Martins] demonstrates disdain for judicial determinations and the ineffectiveness of less serious alternative measures, leaving precautionary segregation as a suitable means to ensure the application of criminal law and the discipline of the process”, stated the Prosecutor’s Office.
Martins was arrested at the beginning of the month at his home, in Ponta Grossa (PR), and taken to a prison in the city. The order was issued on the grounds that he had violated one of the precautionary measures imposed, not accessing social media.
