PCERJ (Rio de Janeiro State Civil Police) carries out another stage of Operation Turnstilethis Tuesday (27). The action takes place in the communities of Prazeres and Escondidinho, in Morro dos Prazeres, in the Central region of the city, and was triggered by investigations conducted by the DRFA (Robbery and Auto Theft Police Station).
Residents reported intense gunfight as teams enter police officers in the community. To date, there is no official information about injuries or arrests related to this episode.
According to the Civil Police, the region is identified as a point used by CV (Red Command) to receive stolen vehicles. The efforts are supported by teams from the DGPE (General Department of Specialized Police), the DGPC (General Department of Police of the Capital), the DGPB (General Department of Police of Baixada) and Core (Special Resources Coordination).
The operation, according to the corporation, is the result of investigation and data analysis work that identified the actions of a network of people involved in incidents related to car theft in the locality. The objectives include compliance with precautionary measures determined by the Court, the recovery of vehicles and the collection of information to support the progress of investigations.
