The Catalan railway service recovers this Tuesday progressively and partially, but early in the morning it already accumulates delays of up to 30 and 45 minutes at the Barcelona Sants station on R1, R2 and R4, and the first cancellations in Girona. The spokesperson for Renfe in Catalonia, Antonio Carmona, assured this Tuesday that the service has started as planned and within a “reasonable normality.”
“It is the same offer that was planned yesterday. We have deployed 150 vehicles on the road and up to 700 informants from Renfe, Adif, Generalitat and Barcelona City Council,” he explained. Carmona has avoided commenting on the dismissals, announced yesterday afternoon, General Director of Operations and Exploitation of Adif.
Although the trains start slowly, the main station in Catalonia has woken up with a different landscape. The network is operating as planned on Monday which caused the suspension and intermittent resumption of service. While waiting for Adif technicians to finish checking the 69 sensitive points and the other 23 critical points of the network, most of the lines are suffering cuts, which is why the Government has chartered more than a hundred intercity buses.
Unlike Monday, Renfe has activated the free service through the subscription. Yesterday the turnstiles remained open throughout the day, but technical difficulties in activating the issuance of free tickets caused confusion among users. This Tuesday, Renfe staff and civic agents from Barcelona City Council advise passengers at the ticket sales machines. Rodalies has deployed for regional, regional express and medium distance services, a free 10-trip subscription, valid for all areas and valid for 30 days from today. The reinforcement of high speed between Barcelona Sants, Camp de Tarragona and Lleida Pirineus is also maintained with four additional trains.
To the widespread failure of Rodalies due to the fall of thesoftwareof the railway traffic control center, this Monday there was a considerable delay in high-speed train traffic in the Madrid-Barcelona corridor.
