São Paulo enters a state of alert for rain; 80 thousand are without electricity

According to the CGE, the Pinheiros and Tietê riverbanks are in a state of alert for flooding

A flood warning was issued on the Pinheiros and Tietê riverbanks

Rains punish São Paulo this Tuesday (27). Civil defense placed the entire city of São Paulo, as well as Guarulhos and Santo André, on alert. Alert was issued flooding on the Pinheiros and Tietê riverbanksas well as the rest of the city.

According to Enel, the concessionaire responsible for electricity in São Paulo and the metropolitan region, 82,000 more customers are without power at around 4 p.m..

The Morro do S stream was on the verge of overflowing at around 3pm, according to the São Paulo Climate Emergency Management Center (CGE). The alert points to heavy rain and hail in SP. The cause of the precipitation would be the heat and the entry of sea breezes acting in the capital, according to the agency.

Conditions should continue for the next few days, with heat and rain showers in the late afternoon.
