Czech show business has been hit by sad news. At the age of 32, the assistant of the Prague senator for Uherské Hradiště Josef Bazala, Petr Adamec, died. He was also a popular folklorist, but the Czech Republic recognized him in 2021 as the winner of the cooking show Prostřeno!, which is known in Slovakia under the name Bez servítky. According to the newspaper, Adamec was supposed to die under strange circumstances.
The accident should have happened on January 15 in a hotel in Prague. His unexpected departure affected many people. “His death took me by surprise. We had written to each other that he would leave Prague at 10:50 on Thursday (January 15, editor’s note), and then this happened. Peter helped me as my part-time assistant in Prague. He was always reliable and responsible despite juggling several jobs at the same time. I want to express my deepest condolences to the family. A rare person has passed away,” said the saddened senator Josef Bazala.
He also said goodbye to him on the social network. “I am very sorry that you are no longer here. He left not only a skilled musician and folklorist, but above all a very capable, intelligent and willing boy who knew how to spread joy,” he wrote.
Adamec was supposed to fall out of the window from the third floor of the hotel. The police confirmed that they intervened on the spot. “On Thursday, January 15, we received a report about a person falling from the window of a house on Národní obrany street. Police officers rushed to the scene and tried to provide first aid to the man. Despite the great efforts of the police and rescuers, the man succumbed to serious injuries on the spot,” said police spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová.
It is still unclear what exactly led to his downfall. “The police are currently still investigating the exact circumstances of the entire incident. We will not provide any further information on the case at this time,” the spokeswoman added.
The owner of the hotel is to be the Museum Kampa – Jana a Meda Mládkový Foundation, with which MEP Jiří Pospíšil is connected. He knew Adamec. “Unfortunately I don’t have any information, it’s a tragedy” stated Pospíšil. He also attended the funeral of Petr Adamec, which took place on Saturday, January 24.
