Vienna – The fifth round of collective bargaining negotiations for the 130,000 employees in the private care, health and social sectors (“Social Economy Austria”) brought a breakthrough on Tuesday night. After 17 hours of negotiations, the GPA and vida unions have reached a conclusion: Salaries and wages will rise by 2.6 percent from April 2026 and by at least 2.3 percent from January 2027, depending on the inflation rate. So there are no strikes.
