Caiado confirms his trip to the PSD alongside Ratinho Jr. and Eduardo Leite

The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, announced his affiliation with the PSD on Tuesday night (27), after informing União Brasil that he would leave the acronym. The departure occurs amid the internal assessment that União Brasil should not launch its own candidacy for the Presidency, given the lack of a name considered competitive.

With the change, Caiado joins a party that already brings together two other pre-candidates for the Palácio do Planalto: governors Ratinho Jr., from Paraná, and Eduardo Leite, from Rio Grande do Sul. In a video released alongside the two, Caiado stated that his membership represents a “gesture of total detachment” and that the PSD will internally define who will be the candidate for President, with the support of the others.

Currently, Ratinho Jr. is seen as the strongest name within the PSD, although the party leadership maintains the opening speech for other options. The party’s president, Gilberto Kassab, has also publicly praised Eduardo Leite’s positions, indicating that the definition is still open.
