In an early return, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), and party leaders will hold a meeting this Wednesday (28) on the resumption of work in the Legislature. The intention is to align the House’s agenda after the parliamentary recess.
The official return of work in Congress is scheduled for Monday (2), at 3 pm. The meeting of the college of leaders was called by Hugo Motta almost two weeks in advance.
At the meeting, deputies must address the preferential work agenda for 2026. Last year, the House closed activities with pending priority agendas, such as the PEC of Public Security and the “Antifaction” project.
It should also be discussed, how CNN showed, . The treaty was signed on January 17 and will still undergo legal analysis.
For it to come into force, however, it depends on the approval of parliamentarians from the countries involved and, therefore, the text will be analyzed in Congress. Hugo Motta has already declared his intention to “proceed the agreement as quickly as possible”.
In an election year, however, parliamentary activities tend to have a slower pace. For this reason, congressmen aim to guarantee the approval of strategic agendas in the first half of the year.
While the opposition’s priority is to overturn the veto on the Dosimetry PL, the government must work to approve the end of the 6×1 work schedule, in addition to the security agenda.
Changes to benches
The Chamber’s group of leaders is expected to undergo changes in the first weeks of work of the year. Some of the benches tend to alternate command annually. This is the case of the PT, which will have as its new leader the deputy Pedro Uczai (SC), which will replace Lindbergh Farias (RJ).
In the PSB, with the departure of Pedro Campos (PE), the role will be occupied by Jonas Donizetti (SP). The change has already been made official by the House.
Since the end of December, the opposition bench has also had a new leader, deputy Corporal Gilberto Silva (PL-PB). The black bench must also change and will be taken over by the deputy Benedita da Silva (PT-RJ).
Other acronyms have already made official reappointments. This is the case of União Brasil, which has already made official that it will continue under the command of Pedro Lucas Fernandes (BAD). The largest party in the House, with 88 deputies, the Liberal Party should also keep the deputy in leadership Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL).
