HAS CNN Brazilthe governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSD), stated that the construction of a presidential candidacy for 2026 within the “third way” may go through a “more complex” internal process, but he assessed that this path tends to strengthen the name that will be chosen.
According to Leite, the dynamics of internal debates and negotiations are positive for consolidating a competitive candidacy. “It may make the internal process a little more complex, but it will strengthen the candidacy that is built. So I think it’s positive,” he said when commenting on the arrival of the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, to the PSD.
The governor also highlighted that there is still no formal procedure defined for choosing the name that will represent this political field. “There is no objectively defined process. It will be based on internal discussions, listening to leaders and constituting the candidacy”, he stated.
Leite added that the environment among potential candidates is one of convergence. According to him, “all three are in the same spirit that favors understanding”, signaling a willingness for dialogue in an attempt to unify the electoral project.
It was confirmed last Tuesday night (27) and will reposition the party on the national board for 2026.
