1,500 incidents, Ferris wheel fell, schools closed, roads closed. The good news is that the worst will be over.
Mainland Portugal is being affected by the effects of the passage of Kristin depression, with rain, wind, snow and sea waves.
There are at least two fatalities. In the early hours of the morning, a car driver died after being hit by a tree on Estrada Nacional 1 (EN1), in the town of Povos, Vila Franca de Xira.
This morning, a person died in Monte Real, in Leiria, due to the “fall of a structure”, indicated a source from the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
Nearly 1,500 occurrences were registered by civil protection between 00:00 and 8:00 today, Wednesday, a number that is expected to rise due to the many situations not yet accounted for.
More than 850 thousand E-Redes customers were at 7:00 without electricity. Lisbon, Guarda, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Leiria, Santarém and Setúbal are the most affected districts.
The area with the most visible occurrences was Western Region, mainly between Coimbra, Figueira da Foz and Leiria.

In Coimbra, several locations were without water and there is closed schools – such as in areas of the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Leiria.
30 members of the Public Security Police intervention team (PSP) they are on the way to Leiria to help protect and help the population.
The PSP warned the populations of the districts of Coimbra and of Leiria for if keep them safe in their homes. An official PSP source warned that there are “impassable roads and fallen trees”, and asked people not to leave their homes.

The effects of the Kristin depression are still being felt in the districts of Castelo Branco and Guarda, but the situation is likely to improve as the storm is already arriving in Spain.
