How did the collision happen?
The driver of the van attempts to pass, appears to be returning to his lane, but almost immediately pulls back into the oncoming stream. The ensuing collision with the truck is shocking. The van almost breaks down and six people die instantly while one more loses the fight while being transported to the hospital. “They are currently in Lugoz and their transfer to Timisoara is being discussed,” said the Romanian State Minister.
The circumstances of the accident have entered the microscope of the authorities. The Romanian authorities claim that the van had earlier collided with the tanker, in the first overtaking attempt. He turns on his right turn signal to return to his lane. He doesn’t complete the transition, turns on his left turn signal and ends up directly on top of the truck.
