Israel will not allow a Palestinian state to be established, and certainly not in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said tonight, assuring that his country would maintain control over security throughout the strip, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean.
“I hear they are saying that I will approve the creation of a Palestinian state in Gaza. That did not happen and will not happen,” he said at a press conference he gave, triumphing over having “repeatedly prevented the establishment of a Palestinian state.”
“But today and tomorrow, we will not allow it,” he insisted. Israel, he said, would have security control over an area “from the Jordan to the (Mediterranean) sea,” meaning its territory and all occupied Palestinian territories.
In Gaza, Israel is now focusing on two missions, “the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization” of the enclave, after the body of the last of the hostages kidnapped on October 7, 2023 was found.
“As I told the president” of the USA, Donald Trump, under whose pressure the ceasefire in the enclave was achieved, “there is only one alternative, either the easy way or the hard way. But in any case, we will succeed,” he added.
