Public Ministry carries out search and seizure operation in Xapuri City Hall

Xapuri City Hall was the target of search and seizure warrants carried out this Tuesday, 27th, in an action coordinated by the Public Ministry of the State of Acre (MPAC). The operation is conducted by the municipality’s Criminal Justice Prosecutor’s Office, with specialized technical support, and is related to an investigation into possible irregularities in a selection process carried out by the municipal administration.

The measure was authorized by the Guarantees Judge, following a formal request from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and aims to collect documents and materials that could contribute to clarifying the facts. According to MPAC, the action seeks to ensure the preservation of evidence considered relevant to the investigation of possible responsibilities.

The investigations began with the opening of a civil inquiry, initiated after signs of failures and inconsistencies in the conduct of the selection process emerged. During this period, the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested information and documents from City Hall, in addition to requesting the suspension of the event while investigations were ongoing.

Despite this, municipal management continued the process and hired staff. In December 2025, the City Hall decided to cancel the selection process and dismiss the admitted employees, a decision that, according to MPAC, was taken without a court order or recommendation from the supervisory body.

Also according to the Public Ministry, even after the annulment, part of the requested documentation was not presented by the municipality, which led to the request for stricter legal measures. With the execution of the warrants, MPAC hopes to obtain the necessary elements to deepen the investigations and verify the occurrence of possible illegalities.
