A man attacked Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar using a foul-smelling liquid during a public meeting in the city of Minneapolis, United States, on Tuesday (27).

Videos show a man advancing towards the congresswoman at the lectern and throwing a stream of liquid at her. A man immediately grabbed him and knocked him to the ground.
Ilhan took a few steps towards the man with his hand raised before he was restrained, and continued his performance after a brief break.

The Democrat called for the abolition of ICE and said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem should resign or suffer impeachment proceedings.
Additionally, she praised the way Minneapolis responded to the presence of immigration agents and the e Alex Pretti .
“We are supporting each other in ways no one expected. We are showing the country and the world what true loneliness is. And we should be very proud of that,” she expressed.
Minneapolis police reported that officers present at the scene saw the man use a syringe to release the unknown liquid.
He was immediately arrested for third-degree assault and reported that Ilhan was unharmed. Forensic experts went to the scene to analyze the scene, according to police.
“He sprayed something on her,” said a woman present at city hall, while another woman commented on the foul odor. “I need a napkin,” the congresswoman said as the man was led away, before adding, “Let’s continue.”
The case drew swift condemnation from American lawmakers.
Representative Ilhan Omar stated that she would not be intimidated, warned that the state had been “shaken” by political violence, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that the attack occurred after days of aggressive speeches directed at Ilhan by United States President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
