Crassula is one of the most popular potted plants. Many people grow it because of the beliefs that this plant brings good luck and financial prosperity. This is a specimen originating from the dry areas of Africa, which, although it seems quite easy to care for, may, however, start to deteriorate. We tell you how to help him.
What distinguishes Crassula are its dark and fleshy leaves. It is by observing them that we can see that the plant is wasting away. The first symptoms appear in the form of: yellowing leaves that gradually begin to fall.
Often the reason for this is improper watering of the plant, or more precisely, providing it with too much water. Due to the fact that it is a succulent, it stores liquid in its leaves, so excessive watering leads to root rot and the appearance of mold. Therefore, remember to feed the crassula with water once every 2 weeks in spring and summer, and even every 3 weeks in autumn and winter.

And let’s not forget that Crassula, as a plant from Africa, likes light. So if we put it in a too dark place, the leaves will droop and start falling off. Let’s also take care of a suitable substrate for the plant.
It is best for succulents with the addition of sand or perlite, which prevents water from stagnating. Additionally, let’s pay attention to: the pot had drainage holes and a layer of expanded clay at the bottom. Thanks to this, the roots do not rot and the plant grows healthily and stably.
Another issue that causes the crassula to decline is the lack of fertilization. This is because it is a specimen that requires systematic feeding with nutrients, otherwise it will start to wither and lose its leaves. It is worth using home-made nutrients, or more precisely, a smoothie, which will provide the specimen with the necessary ingredients.
It’s best to use the peels of 2 bananas, 1 teaspoon of coffee grounds, pour 1 liter of water over them, and then throw them into the blender. Mix everything thoroughly and strain. We water the plant with this mixture once a month. Thanks to it, the crassula will quickly come back to life, and its leaves will become fleshy and stop falling off.
This is because bananas contain large amounts of phosphorus and potassium, as well as nitrogen, i.e. elements that stimulate plants to grow and strengthen their stems and roots and have a positive effect on the leaves. However, the addition of coffee makes the fertilizer contain even more nitrogen. So that’s enough prepare this simple cocktail for your Crassula so that it comes alive and looks great.
