‘The Secret Agent’ at BAFTA: nomination for ‘Original Screenplay’ marks an achievement in the history of Brazilian cinema

BAFTA, the British Academy’s film awards, also known as ‘the English Oscar’, revealed its nominees and Brazil has plenty of reasons to celebrate. ‘I hope that the BAFTA nominations will bring more visibility to the film and get more people to watch it’, said director Kleber Mendonça Filho

. Furthermore, the nomination for Original Screenplay marks an achievement in the history of Brazilian cinema, as it is the first time that our country has entered this race.

It is worth mentioning that, in 2025, ‘I’m Still Here’ was nominated at the BAFTA, but lost to the controversial and controversial ‘Emília Pérez’, which generates even more expectations on the part of the Brazilian public for the film directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho and starring Wagner Moura, to bring home the award.
