The mayor of the resort village, Jean-Yves Pachod, told the newspaper Le Dauphiné that the operation is very complicated for the firefighters because the building has a double roof. Firefighters have to dismantle everything before they can get to the flames. At 10:20 p.m., the fire was still not under control.

The fire at the Hotel des Grandes Alpes occurred shortly before 19:00 local time. Firefighters intervened almost immediately, evacuating 83 guests from the hotel. The hotel management confirmed that all its guests are safe and will be accommodated in other hotels.
