The former director of Supervision at the bank Paulo Sérgio Neves de Souza, who led the board from 2019 to 2023, was removed from his position, by decision of Galípolo, a week after the liquidation
The Central Bank (BC) opened an internal process to investigate the accelerated growth and subsequent liquidation of Banco Master. The decision was taken by the president of the organization, Gabriel Galípolo, and is being conducted by the BC internal affairs department.
The bank’s former Director of Supervision Paulo Sérgio Neves de Souza, who led the board from 2019 to 2023, was removed from his position, by decision of Galípolo, a week after the liquidation, and later asked to leave his position.
The same happened with the head of the Banking Supervision department Belline Santana. There is no accusation, however, against the servers. The information was released by the newspaper O Globo and confirmed by Estadão.
There is no deadline for the end of the investigation by the internal affairs department, which has the autonomy to conduct the case. The objective of the measure is to try to understand what happened to Master, and how the Central Bank can reinforce its internal oversight governance.
