Frozen foods are a frequent help in everyday life, saving time and effort in the kitchen. Some are nutritious, but others require attention, especially when it comes to cardiovascular health. Among these, there is a product that many people have in their freezer and that can pose significant risks to the heart.

According to Notícias ao Minuto, which consulted nutritionists, frozen pizzas are among the foods that can most affect heart health. They are rich in saturated fat, sodium and other processed ingredients, elements that influence cholesterol, weight and blood sugar levels.

Michelle Routhenstein, nutritionist, emphasizes that understanding the relationship between food and the heart allows you to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

According to the expert, 80 to 90 percent of these diseases could be prevented through a balanced diet and appropriate lifestyle choices.

Courtney Pelitera, another nutritionist cited by the same source, explains that the problem is not with the pizza itself, but with the ease with which large quantities of all the ingredients are consumed at once, often without being aware of the actual intake.

Chris Mohr, also consulted, warns that excess sodium can increase blood pressure, cause fluid retention and damage blood vessels, increasing the risk of stroke and other long-term complications.

Saturated fat and excess calories

Another risk factor is the saturated fat present in mozzarella cheese, common in pizzas. According to Pelitera, four to five grams per serving can affect cholesterol levels and contribute to the development of heart disease.

Frequent consumption of frozen pizzas also increases daily caloric intake, which can lead to weight gain and heart strain.

How to make safer choices

Not all frozen pizzas carry the same risk. recommends reading labels carefully and choosing products with lower sodium content, thin or whole-grain pasta, and vegetable toppings rather than processed meats.

Furthermore, vegetables in pizza provide fiber, vitamins and minerals, reducing the negative impact on health.

Moderation remains the rule. According to the same source, occasionally including frozen pizzas and opting for less processed versions allows you to combine practicality and care for your heart, avoiding unnecessary risks.
