According to the Public Security Secretariat, the state reached the lowest homicide rate in the historical series in 2025, with a drop of 24% compared to 2024.

1,183 cases were recorded last year, compared to 1,554 the previous year. As a result, the state rate fell to 9.9 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. In 2018, 1,955 intentional homicides were recorded, which represents a 40% reduction in the last seven years.

Other data released by the state shows that 164 municipalities did not record any homicides in 2025, equivalent to 40% of the 399 municipalities in the State. Another 99 municipalities had just one incident, while 96 recorded two homicides during the year.
