The former minister once again stated that he will run for reelection in São Paulo and support Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president’s eldest son and PL pre-candidate for Planalto; he visited the former president this Thursday
The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), stated that former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) views with “favorable eyes” the pre-candidacy of the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), for the presidency of the Republic, despite maintaining the pre-candidacy of his son, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), for the Palácio do Planalto. The statements took place this Thursday, 29th, after Tarcísio visited Bolsonaro in prison in Brasília.
“He spoke. And the president saw it with good eyes. The president praised Caiado to me. The president has an appreciation for Caiado, a consideration for the work that Caiado did throughout his political career. The president understands that it is a candidacy that also adds to this project, that in the end everyone will be together against the PT, there is no doubt about that. So, he saw it with very good eyes. The president then sees it with hope too and saw a right move and was satisfied”, he stated.
The former minister once again stated that he will run for re-election in São Paulo and support Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president’s eldest son and PL pre-candidate for Planalto, in this year’s election. “My interest is to stay in São Paulo. I am grateful to the State of São Paulo for everything the State gave me, for the trust they placed in me,” said the governor. Still according to Tarcísio, Flávio’s candidacy has already been decided.
PSD gains reinforcements
With Caiado’s affiliation, in addition to having three pre-candidates for Palácio do Planalto in his party, Kassab also has strong influence among other important names. At the end of last year, he joined Mateus Simões, vice-president of Romeu Zema (NOVO), with the PSD. He is tipped to run for governor of Minas Gerais, as Zema cannot be re-elected.
In São Paulo, where he works as Secretary of Institutional Relations for Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), Kassab has his current vice president, Felício Ramuth. The expectation is that the party will continue with the PSD. Even with the name still undefined, interlocutors indicate that both Tarcísio and the Republicans, the governor’s party, prefer Ramuth to remain in office.
